Rehoboth Sports Academy opened their 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) Division Two U-19 Youth League campaign with a spirited 1-1 draw against familiar foes Hommydays FC at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Led by Head Coach Hammed Olalekan and Assistant Coach Titiloye Opeyemi, the academy side gave an energetic performance, carving out numerous scoring opportunities throughout the fast-paced encounter but ultimately sharing the points at the final whistle.
Despite dominating key phases of play and creating several clear-cut chances, the young lads were unable to convert their dominance into a winning goal. The match also marked the squad’s competitive adaptation to the synthetic surface at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, which initially impacted their ball control and rhythm.
Rehoboth Sports Academy Team Coordinator, Ashiru Salam, commended the squad’s grit while addressing the performance:
“This was our first official league outing, and that context alone says a lot about the character and performance the boys put out today. While we lost several promising scoring chances and adjusted to playing on an artificial turf for the first time, their resilience was top-notch. We have identified areas to refine, and we are confident of a stronger, more clinical output in our next match.”
The technical crew will immediately refocus the team’s preparations on tactical recovery and finishing drills ahead of Matchday 3, where Rehoboth FA will face Elebuibon Boyz FC on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
